I am more of an every two weeks planner. Planning meals for an entire month just stresses me out. Not to mention, we don't have the freezer space.
We don't eat fast food, and rarely go out to eat so we have a home cooked meal planned for every night. It actually works out great because I love to cook. As far as lunches go, I always make just a little extra at dinner so my husband can take leftovers the next day. I am a cold breakfast kind of girl, while my husband is a hot breakfast kind of guy. So we don't plan too much for breakfasts. I make sure to have the staples in my pantry/fridge, eggs, fruit, toast, cereal. Just like with breakfast, my husband and I don't share the same desire for snacking. I could eat snacks for every meal.
Heather, over at It's a Long Story, keeps a list of family favorite meals. Genius! I don't know why that never occurred to me before?
Again, my husband and I have very different tastes when it comes to food. We manage to eat the same meal every night, but it is a give and take some nights.
Some of our favorites include:
* Spinach Salad
*Bean & Beef burritos w/ hominy or rice
*Wings and baked fries
*Asian Zing chicken w/ egg fried rice
*Leftover stuffed grilled cheese
We tend to stick to easy, but tasty meals. I plan our menu around our basic favorites and then we add 3 new recipes. If you follow me on Instagram (@aleksslocum) you will get to see first hand which meals I completely ruin, and which meals are a total success.
I have rounded up a few Meal Planning printables that I LOVE. They are free to print, (best part, right?)
This one is actually an entire set of meal planning printables.
And here is my favorite one, you can tear off the list after you finish shopping.
