The Most Expensive Gift

This verse could have stopped right there- at death. That's it. You sin, you die. But our heavenly Father is so gracious and put a comma where a period should have been. How easily God could have put a period and left us to lie in the beds we had made. The price of sin is death, BUT God (BUT GOD!) God has given us the most gracious gift, the most expensive, luxurious, and beautiful gift. He has given us eternal life. He has given us Christ Jesus. For this I am truly thankful. For this I am forever grateful. "But God rich in mercy - even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us ALIVE together with Christ." (Eph 2:4) I deserve death. I have sinned, and sinned again. But God, he has given me the gift of salvation. This gift is more valuable than any worldly possession I could imagine. Christ had to die so that I could live. So that YOU could live. This is our gift, from our Creator. How will you cherish your gift of eternal life?

  1. Some days it's all too easy to live in the freedom this gift offers us, isn't it? I needed to be reminded of this today. It's so simple to say but so much more complex to really fathom just how amazing this gift is. That nothing can compare or is even worthy to compare.

Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his.
