INSPIRE series: Testimony (by Chrissy Boerman)

We are back with post number three of our INSPIRE series. Chrissy, from The Pearl Blog,  has volunteered to share her testimony with us!

After I wrote the post Who am I } back in January 2011
I was contacted by my church.
They had been preparing that weeks worship service and thought my testimony would fit perfectly with what they had planned. { God does not work in coincidences }
The sermon we were going to be having was on John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
So when Sunday came this is how it went…There were 4 of us on stage and the sanctuary was pitch black.
We each shared our testimony in darkness (not just in literal darkness but living in darkness with out Jesus) Then the pastor read the verse John 8:12. They put a spotlight on the wooden cross that is on our stage. There were a few seconds of silence, then they put a spot light on us one at a time. When the spot light was on us we were to read our testimony in the light.
Here is what I shared:
Testimony in Darkness
Who am I?
I am insecure.
I am afraid of not fitting in
I am always trying to be in the “in” crowd.
I am hurt when someone doesn't want to be my friend.
I care too much about what others think of me
At times I binge eat, and other times I starve myself
I am an overly sensitive person.
I struggle with saying “no”
I am extremely overwhelmed.
I don’t like admitting I need help.
I talk too much, especially about those close to me.
I constantly find my self judging others
I struggle to know exactly who I am.
I struggle with depression.
I struggle with how to treat my depression
I struggle with admitting I have depression
And I am afraid, I am afraid I will not get out of the darkness
Testimony in Light
Who am I with the light of the gospel in my heart?
I am a girl!
I am a girl that loves Jesus.
I am a girl that loves Jesus and through Him I am saved.
I know that I am a girl who is loved by Jesus.
I know that my sins are forgiven because of Him.
I know that I am a girl that has God on my side; and it does not matter who is against me
I know that I am girl that was fearfully and wonderfully made, created perfect in His image, and that is all that should matter.
I know that I am a girl who depends on Jesus’ strength for each day.
I know that I am a girl who can be at perfect peace if I continue to trust Him in every way.
I am a girl who lives in the light.
Thanks for sharing a part of my story. If you have any questions…please feel free to email me.
